As we all knew it by now, Budapest is one of the best cities around the world. Budapest scored 2. place on the Condé Nuts Traveller Reader's Choice Awards 2013. It is a beautiful city indeed. Have you ever tried walking around just looking up? People tend to look down, deep in their thoughts while rushing through the city they live in. Sometimes just try to look at it as an outsider and you will see some amazing things around you. That is what Hungarian Urban Photography members do, so we collected their pictures for celebrating these news.
"Everything about Budapest was entrancing."
Each to their own, but it's the ugliest and saddest European city I've ever been to. It's not really even European.
ReplyDeletemay be you were somewhere else?? haha not in Budapest. lol
DeleteWhat a strange thing to say. Define "European"?
DeleteThat's Bucharest, NOT Budapest...
DeleteI may agree with sad but ugly? It is not a happy place for sure but it is far from being ugly.Maybe you meant depressive ;)
DeleteAre you from Bukarest?
Deleteagree ... Budapest is a nice city, unique with its panoramic views, it is very good for rich tourists, not for people to make a living. Half of the Hungarians already left the country: no jobs, no opportunities, no hope...
DeleteThat was Bucharest! XD
DeleteUgly your mother...
Have you ever been in Bucharest, probably not!You think that you are better than any other people just because you were born in Hungary, but you didn`t buildt the city and your comment is ignorant, hateful and really annoying. But I suppose that`s all you are capable for,it`s very, very sad.Hope one day you can see and you change your mind how to behave towards other people:-)Wish you a god luck and Happy Christmas!
DeleteCan I ask where you're from?
ReplyDeleteI am Italian, but I live in Budapest..something else to say?
ReplyDeletewhy not go home?
DeleteRight :)
DeleteItalian...? XD Did you think maybe dako-roman (!) -> romanian -> italian XD
Deletelike a gypsy (roma) say, he is brasilian... XD
stronzo bastardo
ReplyDelete"Why not go home?" Best answer :)
ReplyDeleteYour "Nickname" is everything, without name you can write "clever" thing.
ReplyDeleteThe link goes to CN (Condé Nast). That is not CNN. Is everything else this accurate on this web-site?
ReplyDeleteEverybody have right to express his opinion. If he doesn`t like Budapest he must have some reason.Budapest can be beatiful but it can be ugly depens where do you live or what you are looking at.There are a lot of wonderful cities around the world and Italy has plenty.Your angry comments showing one of Budapest ugly side some of the people destroying everything around them, overshadowing all the beatiful things. All the hate and patriotism can make every city difficult to live in.And no I am not Rumanian or gipsy or whoever you have on your hatelists:-(
ReplyDeleteI'm not-Anonymous. I'm sad, because 99% I see trolls here. Budapest is a nice city. Depressive?! If you are, than you mainly see, meet depressive people.
ReplyDeleteNo opportunities, no jobs, no hope??? What a wrong view and thoughts! Change your thinking, and you'll see the change of the world around you! If you only react to the circumstances, you never go far. Its time to create jobs/work, and not to wait for someone else to be given.
Awake!
It is a very nice city, however if you don't see its depressive parts you may not be surrounded by Hungarians :) It's just Hungarians are so far from positive thinking. And when they actually do it its so fake that its saddening again. But than again, don't tell me you never met negative thinking Hungarians. Just because I see them doesn't mean I am one of them. You may however be a big exception, don't stop spreading the positive vibe ;) Bottom line: the Italian guy is really a big exception, and presuming he is not Romanian he is one of the 1% Italians that doesn't find Budapest Heaven where girls fall in his lap and bag his attention. But than again, this is a stereotype so I better shut up (trolls will pick this last line you"ll see :).
DeleteI am living in Budapest at the moment. I can tell you, right now it's one of the most terrible places to live apart from a few war-ridden places in the Third World. There are a lot of things you can't see on the news.
ReplyDeleteHere's a dictatorship going on, the government confiscated one of our private bank accounts last year - the private ( and bigger ) part of our pension. If you're writing a blog and criticizing the government - they confiscate your computer, you'll never get it back and they'll try to forge some accusations against you remotely based on what they find on your laptop. They changed the constitution without asking anyone because wanted to ensure they would win the next election. Now even foreigners from abroad ( who had some Hungarian ancestors in the past ) can SEND their votes here on little papers: you can imagine, as voting is anonymous, the government can say they got 500.000 votes from abroad...noone can check. They put detectives into elementary schools and forbid the schools to let the students go home before the late afternoon. If a policeman ( or a guy looking like one ) finds a child or youth on the street or any public place during the day, he can bring the child home and question the parents. Even the parents can't take their children home. We are afraid they would shut down the borders, so many people are leaving. There is no work here, the salaries are almost negative - for example they offered me 99.000 before taxing for an assistant position beside the head of a publisher's. After tax that's about 60.000 forints, which is 273 USD. To see the proportions, any service here is somewhat ( sometimes a lot ) cheaper than in the States or in western Europe, but everything else is A LOT MORE expensive ( food, clothing ).
So before you think about moving or just visiting here...beware.
Dont worry, there are problems everywhere in the World, everywhere in Europe! Education, living costs, prices, time, safety, etc..
DeleteGreeting from the Mars!
